We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our second child, a little boy, who is due any day and who, according to the midwife, really could come at anytime. I am ready to meet this little guy and find out what he’s like…so, apparently, is everybody in our circle of friends and acquaintances. I’ve received LOTS of tips on how to make myself go into labor. Here’s what I’ve learned so far:
-Walk lots
-Have sex lots
-Use Evening Primrose Oil
-Eat spicy foods
-Eat Chinese food (the MSG will send you into labor)
-Drink castor oil
-Go for a run
-Nipple stimulation
-Jump on a trampoline
-Get a pedicure
-Eat the Garlic Chicken Pizza at Cafe Trip
-Utilize the pressure points on your hands, feet, and legs
-Drink a glass of orange juice and eat four prunes
I’m sure you’ve heard many of these as well. At this point I have to laugh at the many, many “sure-fire” tips because if I don’t laugh I will become frustrated and irritated. And truth be told, I’ve tried almost all of these in the last five days and, well, no baby yet. Oh well, at least I’ve been distracted, eaten some delicious food, and have really nice clean intestines!
Do you have any crazy “sure-fire” tips? I’d love to hear them…I might even try them. 🙂
Well, I don’t have any new tips for you but I do have advice. These days before Korben comes are the last days of just you and Jennika. Enjoy them. Also, I remebered a few days ago that you wanted to name your son Chester McGill and I’m wondering why you changed your mind and if Auntie Shiree can call him Chester McGill. What do you think. It may not matter but I’d like to know. 😉 I love you. Oh! When I was over due with Millie I just decided that I wasn’t pregnant and that helped, too! 😉
Lol, I don’t think my boy would love me much if I named him Chester McGill…especially when he asked why and I couldn’t really give him an answer.
You can call him that though, it will be a good story. 🙂
NO CASTOR OIL!! But I’m guessing you already tried that…hence the clean intestines….it’s horrid. Going in and coming out…either way, all of these things will help, but ONLY if that little boy is ready. Otherwise, doesn’t do a thing. 🙂
Actually I didn’t have the guts (no pun intended) to try castor oil. I’ve heard how terrible it is. The prunes and OJ tasted much better and were what I was referring too.
Time…that is the answer….and waiting it HORRIBLE! I not very patient and I was so discouraged when everyone would ask me if I had that kid yet, and I’m still pregnant. That drove me nuts! So I don’t have any surefire ways…but time. Plus all that stuff that works for everyone else never seemed to work for me. Walking seemed to stop my labor. Water…relaxing in water seemed to be the most help. But that was normally when labor was actually going too…I didn’t seem to be able to get into a good labor pattern on my own. I did a water birth with Jaron and LOVED it…well at least as much as anyone really loves giving birth! 😉 I want you to know that I am praying. I always jump right back into my own time of waiting and know the wait is hard. He will come…it just will be in God’s time…not ours! Sorry, that probably isn’t any help!
Hugs!
Johannah
Oh my goodness, thanks for the laugh… but I really don’t need to know that much about your sex life.
It drives me crazy when people keep asking “is the baby here yet?” “when are you inducing?” and “aren’t you so impatient!?” And you know, I have a few months before I’m getting those questions myself this time! Hang in there!
I scrubbed the kitchen floor on my hands and knees and the light contractions that started turned into labor the next day. My friend is going to get a special massage to encourage labor to start. If only there was a sure-fire way (besides induction – yuck! The only reason it’s sure-fire is because if it doesn’t work you get a c-section!)
I think that when I asked why you wanted to name your son Chester McGill you said you liked the sound of it and thought it was a good name. But your probably wise in choosing a different name. I think I’ll try it out on him and see what he thinks though. Can’t wait to meet him.
Well, I hope you are able to be comfy and enjoy whatever you can during this “over-due” time. Like maga Becky used to say, “This too shall pass”.. (like I’ve never told you that before!) :0) BUT,, I do have a friend who told me what she did to make herself have her baby.. and it was definetly a new one for me to hear! So,, prepare yourself.. this is kinda.. gross! She manually stretched her own cervix. OMG! Can you believe that! I had a hard time reaching down to do anything normal.. can’t imagine down and UP! So,, if you’re feeling.. desperate.. maybe give it a try! (but don’t worry about letting me know that you did it!) 🙂 I can’t wait for you to be able to hold your little Korban guy,, when it’s done, it’s done and then you wonder when you’ll ever get them weened and breastfed and walking and.. so on. Ree’s advice is good,, I’m never good at focusing on the now,, but if you can manage it, it’ll make this time go by even quicker! Love ya so much!
